Hey, As always thank you so much for being part of my community and watching these videos. Today I want to talk a little about my first book series, Mount Hideaway Mysteries.

So I wanted to tell you a little more about the background of the Mount Hideaway Mysteries series. It’s set in a small town in Virginia’s Shenandoah Valley that has a mysterious secret government facility located on a lonely mountain just outside town. That all comes from my childhood, living in Winchester, Virginia in the seventies.

When I was growing up, all the kid’s parents in my town were farmers, factory workers, or truck drivers, except for a few people who worked at a place called Mount Weather, or as people used to say “They work up on the Mountain”. It’s a very secure facility and what goes on there is still classified.

So that seemed like a great setting for a series of mystery stories. I had moved to Northern Virginia right out of college, but I still had lots of old friends in the Winchester and Front Royal areas and many of them were kind enough to let me use their family businesses as locations for our movie shoots. We also got great support from the Virginia Film Office and from Shenandoah University, who let us use their ESports arena as the location of Mount Hideaway Cyber Command.

We originally wrote and filmed the “Exes and Oh No’s” story, which is now book two. It takes place when the characters are in their early to mid twenties. But it had flashbacks to when they were in their homeschool co-op in high school. So we wrote the “Breaking And Entering” story, which is book one, to fill out the details of that period.

We had a number of logistical issues, and it was almost four years before we could make the second movie, which was frustrating because we’d put a HUGE cliffhanger at the end of Exes and Oh No’s and people were SCREAMING to find out how that was resolved.

But now all three books are out and as I’m recording this the sequel movie is headed for distribution. So again, If you’ve read any of these or watched the movies, I’d LOVE to hear from you. If not, there are some links below in this email so you can check them out.

If you have read any of them, leaving a kind review on Amazon or Goodreads with as many stars as you can honestly give me, would REALLY mean a lot and help me keep doing this.

Take care and hopefully we’ll talk soon.
